As an eagle stirs up its nest,
Hovers over its young,
Spreading out its wings, taking them up,
Carrying them on its wings,
So the LORD alone led him,
And there was no foreign god with him.
Do you know how eagles teach their babies to fly? they shake the nest up, dropping the eaglets into the air. They don’t know how to fly yet. Just before they are in danger of hitting anything, the mother eagle flies under the eaglet, spreads her wings, and catches the baby. She then carries it up to try all over again.
How many times I feel like that eaglet. It seems I am endlessly being knocked out of the nest, falling to what seems like my death. Sometimes, I recognize the Lord catching me, but others, I feel like I’m falling forever and I don’t know what on earth is keeping me from giving up.
I just love this illustration of the trials in our lives. God doesn’t keep us from hard times; He uses them for His own purpose. I’m tired of falling, but I don’t want to be an eaglet forever.
